Yeah so Kak is short for kakak which means an older sibling. It can be used for whoever but it's usually used for people outside of pulau (island) Jawa because they don't use mbak and mas as much. So you use it for people older than you but not married yet. :)
Firman is the name of the dad, and it's Indonesian. Firman means "Word" (as in the word of God). Like in John 1 where it talks about the Word, Firman is the word used. But just normal words are "kata-kata." (So like you can say that the book of mormon adalah (is) firman Allah. How's that for a short Indonesian lesson? ;)
I am glad you enjoyed conference, that's too bad you didn't get tickets though. We get to watch conference this upcoming weekend, they'll have the Indonesian voiceover all finished by then and we'll watch it as a ward family. Pretty excited for that and we're really hoping we can get some of our investigators to come.
This week was good. We had a missionary leadership council with President Donald and a zone training meeting, and we learned a lot about becoming better leaders. A memorable quote from President Donald was "Don't be ostrich leaders" because ostriches hide their head in the ground when confronted with a problem. But we can't do that. We have to face problems and take action to fix things, don't just wait till it goes away.
This week the F family didn't make it to church, but they had a good reason. Their school is majority Muslim and so there isn't a Christian religion teacher. So they have to go to a sunday school teacher and get the grade from them. The grades are due today. The only problem is, in the past they were going to a different church so they couldn't get the grade from a member at our church. They had to go to their old church first and get the grade from the sunday school teacher there. But they are committed to coming next week, hopefully all will go well :) I love their family so much!!! One funny thing that happened this week was when we went to try to visit them on Wednesday. I was on splits with Elder Anderson because Elder Green was sick and I was sick of being at the house. So we went to the F family and Pak F was able to salvage this really old computer and monitor that someone else was going to throw out. He asked us if we knew anything about computers and could help him out. So we gave it our all for a good 45 minutes and got it all set up, except for one thing: we didn't know the password to get in to the old owners windows account. So we were messing with stuff and I slid this switch on the side of the computer. I quickly realized this was a mistake because this huge spark shot out of the computer and the electricity in their whole house went out. After that the computer wouldn't even turn on anymore. I felt sooooo bad.... Oh man it was horrible. But Pak F just kept comforting me and was all, "don't worry, it's just a computer. What really matters is Jesus Christ, it's no problem. I'm not mad." What a nice family and I just hope they can take the steps so their family can be together forever :)
We got news that Elder Green is moving next week, to Bogor! So that's pretty cool he'll get to see my birth-place. I am really sad that he is moving but my new companion is really cool, his name is Elder Hansen. He's a super hard worker and I am excited to learn from him. It's a bittersweet sorta thing.
Kak W couldn't come to church because she was out of town on the weekend, but we hope she can come to conference this week!
We have been searching for a lot of new people and talking to them on the angkuts, trains, streets and warungs. There have been some cool miracles with that like this nice girl named E who we were able to give a Book of Mormon to on the train. And this fun guy named C who it turns out is from California. His parents are both Indonesian though so we didn't guess at all. But his english is perfect, he even has a californian accent. People have just been talking to us or we have talked to them and we hope to find more whom the Lord has prepared.
